It is still difficult to imagine that legendary actor Sridevi is not amongst us. She was a brilliant actor and an iconic dancer. And she was also the Lux Superstar. So on Sunday at the Lux Golden Rose Awards, the Padma Sri awardee was given a tribute in a very special manner. Actor Madhuri Dixit performed on a few of Sridevi’s famous dance numbers including ‘Hawa Hawai’.

In a black outfit with pink fans in her hand, Madhuri’s charismatic performance was a beautiful tribute to the late actor. Even Aishwarya Rai after receiving an award praised Madhuri in her ‘thank you’ speech. “Madhuri, your performance was amazing, we love you!” The homage to Sri Ji, we love you and we miss you, God bless you as you smile on us. “she said.

The ‘Dhak Dhak’ also performed on Hema Malini’s ‘Dreamgirl’ and Helen’s ‘Yeh Mera Dil’. Finally, she grooved on her famous number ‘Tamma Tamma Loge’. In a quick chat before the event, Madhuri mentioned that has been very excited and overwhelmed about the performance. “When they contacted me to make this presentation, I felt overwhelmed and excited”.

Since the Awards support the ‘HeforShe movement’, I thought it was also time for women, especially in Bollywood, to celebrate and express solidarity among them. She further stated, “Lux legends are truly iconic and inspiring, and my acting is simply to bring fans to memory while delighting and celebrating their magic.”

The annual event was jointly organized by Shah Rukh Khan and Varun Dhawan. Sridevi’s daughter Janhvi was also amongst the performers. It was her first stage show and she performed with her ‘Dhadak’ co-star Ishaan Khattar.
