The baguette was 140.5m, beating Italy’s previous record of 132.62m.

French bakers set a new Guinness World Record on Sunday when they created a 140.5m (461ft)-long baguette in Suresnes, a suburb of Paris.

The gigantic baguette outperformed a 132.62m (435ft) mega bread produced in the Italian city of Como in 2019, which held the previous world record.

“More rules must be met than just the measurement. The hygiene law must be abided by locally. The ingredients must be traditional ingredients used as well as traditional cooking methods for making a baguette. Finally, it must be one continuous piece with no breakages,” said Guinness World Records adjudicator Joanne Brent.

A portion of the baguette was shared with the French public and distributed to homeless individuals.
