Rajkummar Rao recently responded to the trend of glorifying negative characters in films during his appearance on Raj Shamani’s podcast. When asked about the public’s affinity for Shah Rukh Khan’s portrayal of Devdas, Rao also shared his insights on Ranbir Kapoor’s performance in Animal, expressing his admiration for the film.
Rao stated, “Watching Animal was an incredible experience. Did I have some reservations about a few scenes? Perhaps. But did that diminish my overall enjoyment? Not in the slightest. The film was captivating, and the cinematic experience was thoroughly engaging. Ranbir Kapoor’s performance was nothing short of phenomenal—absolutely breathtaking.”
Rajkummar Rao also mentioned a film critic’s observation that the title Animal was deliberately chosen by the director to portray a character driven by raw, instinctive impulses. The film, he explained, was never meant to showcase an idealized man, hence the title wasn’t Adarsh Purush (Ideal Man).
