Maoists in Chattisgarh targeted a bus carrying Border Security Personnel returning from poll duty in Bijapur. Four Border Security Force jawans, one Chattisgarh DRG and one civilian who was driving the vehicle were injured when the IED exploded. Reinforcement was rushed to the spot and the injured have been rushed to a local hospital.
According to the preliminary reports, the Maoists detonated an IED before opening fire at the personnel. The incident happens before the second phase of election in Chattisgarh which will begin on November 20.
Chattishgarh is one of those areas who are more affected by the Maoists. Earlier on November 8, Maoists blew up a bus in Chattisgarh’s Dantewada killing at least five people along with a CISF personnel.
A Doordarshan cameraperson covering the elections and a police officer were killed in a strike in Dantewada. Chattishgarh is one of the worst-hit states by Maoists who have been targeting security personnel and civilians on a regular basis.
