Sagarika is an accomplished writer and this book on Indira explores issues such as reasons behind the emergency in 1975, her failed marriage, her tumultuous relationship with her son Sanjay Gandhi and numerous political battles.
Interestingly, earlier Vidya Balan was not sure if she really wanted to do a biopic. Vidya had opined, “As humbling as it is to be offered biopic, I am not sure if I want to be known as an actor with a monopoly on the genre,”
Recently, we have seen Supriya Vinod essaying the role of Indira Gandhi in films ‘Yashwantrao Chavan’ and Madhur Bhandarkar’s 2017 political drama ‘Indu Sarkar’.
